3)Introduction to the Subject
The subject matter of the course, i.e. defining the terms and describing what the course is all about. Describes the field as a whole. For example, what is the general topic- what is Financial Management? What do financial managers do… etc.
4) Course Description
What the students will actually study: usually with a list of major topics (20 to 30) that will be covered in the course.
5)Course Objective
Usually a list of issues that the student will master thruout the course.
6)Internet Support
How the student can use the Internet to further enhance the learning experience. Most courses lists the most useful sites directly related to the subject. Many web sites are listed with a brief description
7) A Global perspective
How the subject relates to the global economy. It is possible that most students will not be Americans, it is assumed, and an international perspective on whatever subject is needed.
8)Learning Aids
Various topics, ideas, techniques and other ways to appreciate the subject more.
9)Real Life Situations
One or two page abstracts about a variety of topics directly related to the subject. A great modern learning tool; many universities only use this method for teaching.
10)Textbook
Give the details to the main textbook for the course. If the graduate school text is different, it gives the bibliographical details. Also all supplementary books that are used are explained.
11)Assignments
Assignments are given for the students with the textbooks and for those without the text. Sometimes case studies are used with questions.
12)Dissertation
Explaining how students should write their academic paper. How many pages and the type of research to be done.
13)Extra Credit
What students should do to receive a higher grade or just to do more research in the field. Students are encouraged to do more work. This is adult education after all.
14)Study Hints
What the student can do to improve their learning experience with study habits and more help with details of the subject matter.
15)Ethical Questions

Books and magazines that will help the student go further into the subject.

Wrapping up the subject matter with possible further subjects to study.
Text: The university works very closely with McGraw-Hill to get the latest textbook, many SSU has reviewed before publication. Most all books have a CD and other learning aids. Each SSU CD is a complete course, the textbook is only a learning aid- a great one but the text is not necessary to complete the course.
