The graduate school is a more comprehensive
study of a particular field. After a normal four-year or
the equivalent undergraduate degree, students may elect to go
to Superior State University’s graduate school. If the
undergraduate degree is not in the same or a related field,
some undergraduate courses may be required during the
probationary period before official admission to the graduate
school. Each department head or one of Superior State
University’s academic evaluators determines the amount of
courses that a particular student needs to graduate.
A normal full-time Master’s Degree, a Master
of Science (M.S., M.Sc.), a Master of Arts (M.A.) or a Master
of Business Administration (M.B.A.) usually requires 2 to 4
years of full time study. Part time students usually
double the time required for graduation. Usually 100
academic credits are needed for graduation. Often a
dissertation is also required, especially in Superior State
University’s Executive Degree Program (EDP) program.
Altho there are general entrance and graduation requirements,
each department has different specific criteria.
The next academic step in the Superior State
University graduate school is the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
or the Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.). A
full time student needs 3 to 5 years of in-depth study after
the master’s degree before graduation. Check individual
departments for specific courses and time requirements.
Most undergraduate courses of study can be
continued into our graduate school. Individual course
exemptions or additions can be made and are encouraged to be
applied. Individual programs can also be personally
designed to meet the needs of each student. Certain
classroom course restrictions may occur because of resource
problems in a particular area. For example, lack of
qualified teachers in a specific field may limit programs at
certain campuses.
